The market police of Hyderabad has arrested 18 people involved in a planned robbery case, achieving a major success. 43.21 lakh rupees in cash, more than 57 grams of gold jewelery, two cars, four bikes and 23 mobile phones have been recovered from them. The accused had signed a fake gold deal to rob a large amount from a businessman in Bovenapalli.
Fraud work: Fake gold deal turns violent
The case came to light after a complaint was lodged by Hariram, a resident of Bovenapalli. He was implicated by an acquaintance Radheshyam who offered him 1 kg of gold at a 5% discount on the market price, and demanded cash for transactions.
Initially Hariram was introduced to five unidentified persons, later by another person named Radheshyam and Rambabu, who confirmed the cash and informed his colleagues. Shortly thereafter, four people entered the campus as a police officer of SOT Rachakonda Commissionerate. One of them Keswulu also showed fake ID. The gang assaulted Hariram and looted the cash and mobile phones of all the people present there.
Plan made in hotel room
According to the police, Mastermind-Chandra Shekhar Verma and his brother Nagaraju Kumar Verma-Ne Gold traders planned to rob a large amount of cash. The conspiracy was finalized during a meeting at the Blue Sea Hotel on 18 June, which included 15 members. A-2 (Nagaraju) contacted a colleague Suresh, who claimed access to the gold dealers of the pot market. To create credibility, one of the accused also showed a fake online account to the victim. On the day of crime, many accused entered the office, showing the law to be a law enforcement officer, attacked the victim and looted the money.
Fold in story: robbers robbed
In a bizarre turn, four persons of a separate group-presented as a “vehicle recovery team” and stopped the-mango gang while fleeing. Describing one of the escape bikes as an EMI default vehicle, he stopped the vehicle in Trimulgheri and forcibly took the cash bag. When the original conspirators came to know about this new turn, the conflict started. According to the police investigation, later local colleagues of the original gang in Ghatkesar attacked the money snatched.

A total of 18 accused have been arrested, including a serving constable (A-5 Meesala Keshavulu) of Telangana State Special Police. Many others-which have been identified as A-3, A-8 and A-14 as A-28-are still absconding. The seized items include ₹ 43.21 lakh cash, gold jewelery weighing more than 57 grams, two cars (Swift Dzire and Kia Carens), four motorcycles, 23 mobile phones.
Speaking about this campaign, DCP Northern Region Ms. Rashmi Perumal, IPS warns the people who have not come under the guise of fraudulent schemes promising to give gold or valuables at low rates. He said, ‘This case shows how many big steps are ready to take advantage of the trust of the people. We urge the citizens to confirm any such proposal and inform the police about suspicious activity.
