In the press conference after the match, Venkatesh said, “There is no meaning of Rs 20 lakh or 20 crore after the start of the IPL. The price tag does not justify how you play. There is more money and more expectations. I just want to contribute to the success of the team.”
Venkatesh attacked SRH captain Pat Cummins balls in the 19th over, scoring 78 runs in the last five overs of his innings. For the first time in this season, he touched the 200 runs figures. When asked about his innings, Venkatesh said that the main task of assessing the circumstances was done by Ajinkya Rahane and Ankrish Raghuvanshi during the 81 -run partnership and then he told the rest of the batsmen how to play.
Venkatesh praised his bowlers as they fully implemented the plans. He said, “We always knew that a team that is highly aggressive, who always tries to score runs, always takes the risk of losing wickets and this is what we wanted to exploit.”
SRH’s pace bowling coach James Franklin admitted that 200 was a score to achieve. He said, “At the end of our bowling innings, he (KKR batsman) scored a lot of independence. I think he scored 60-70 runs in the last four overs. But in half the time we definitely felt that we are in the game and I think that unfortunately in power play we lost three wickets in the first three overs.”
