Uttar Pradesh Police has got a big success against Ganja smugglers. In a joint action of STF Lucknow and Mau Police, an inter-state smuggler has been arrested and an illegal hemp worth about Rs 3 crore 12 lakh has been recovered. The recovered hemp is said to be 12 quintals of 70 kg 900 grams. It was being brought from Assam to Lucknow.
According to Zanakir, the DCM car was written on the DCM vehicle ‘On Duty Army’ on the vehicle used to mislead the police. Apart from this, fake stickers named the name of army officers and battalions were also pasted on the bundles and cartons of the household items kept inside the car to avoid checking.

According to Superintendent of Police Imaran, on June 23, information was received from the informer that a suspected DCM vehicle was parked near Talimuddin Inter College, Mau. A joint team of STF Lucknow, Mau SOG and Kotwali Nagar Police reached the spot and a vehicle was searched. During the checking, a large quantity of illegal hemp was recovered from 24 cartons (15 plastic cartons and 9 stitch sacks) kept in the car.
In this case, the police has arrested an accused named Janardan Pandey, who is a resident of Dostpur in Sultanpur. During interrogation, it was found that the accused was about to take Ganja from Assam to Lucknow and was showing it as a household item of the army through fake transfer billet. Police said that three more accused are included in this gang, who are being searched.
This gang has already smuggled fake documents in the name of the army in a similar manner. This action is being considered as a big success against the smuggling of drug addiction in the state.
