Two people have been arrested for molesting and harassing three sisters returning home after visiting the Jagannath temple in Puri, Odisha. The local police gave information about this incident on Tuesday.
It is alleged that on Monday evening, a group of six people drunk on the road near the bus stand in Kantapur area harassed the three sisters, which has increased concerns about the safety of women in the temple city.
According to the police complaint lodged by the women, the accused allegedly made obscene comments, pulled a woman’s scarf and tried to snatch their mobile phones. According to the police complaint lodged by the women, they also snatched a purse.
Meanwhile, the women called their family members, who reached the spot and caught two accused. Those who were later handed over to the police. But the rest of the accused ran away. Those who are being searched.
Puri Superintendent of Police (SP) Pinak Mishra told PTI that a police team has been formed to catch four absconding accused. Inspector Sunil Kumar Pradhan, in -charge of Puri Sadar Police Station, said that both the arrested people are being questioned.
