The Delhi government has started action under its new no fuel for old vehicle policy in the state from July 1. According to the new rule, an end-of-life vehicle i.e. 10 years old diesel and 15 years old petrol vehicles are not being given fuel at any petrol pump in Delhi. After which people are raising their voice on social media against this rule. Similarly, a former Indian Air Force pilot has also questioned this initiative of the government.
Former pilot Sanjeev Kapoor, who was an officer in the Indian Air Force, wrote in one of his posts on the social networking site ‘X’, “We are still flying more than 40 years old aircraft and many trains, buses, boats and commercial aircraft used in our daily use are more than three decades old. So why are the restrictions being imposed only on private vehicles?”
People are giving all kinds of response on this post of Sanjeev Kapoor. One user has written that this decision is commercial and has nothing to do with the environment. At the same time, a user wrote that it is completely wrong to ban old private vehicles. Because abundance old vehicles are still being used in public transport.
What is the new rule:
According to the new rule implemented by the Delhi government, petrol and diesel will not be supplied to diesel and 15 years older than 10 years older at any petrol pump in the state. In order to strictly follow the rules, teams of Police Force, Transport Department, Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), Transport Department and Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) have been deployed at petrol pumps.
Provision of heavy fine
If the vehicles coming in the end-of-life (EOL) category are identified at the petrol pump, then they are being confiscated. On the first day, 80 vehicles were seized in Delhi. Apart from this, a provision of Rs 15,000 on four -wheelers and Rs 10,000 for two -wheelers has been made for two -wheelers for such vehicles.
Currently, this new rule has been implemented only in Delhi and it has been given way to CNG -powered vehicles. But it is reported that from November 1, there is a plan to implement it in the surrounding cities of Delhi like Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Sonipat. Older vehicle owners are very upset with this new rule of the government. People are being forced to sell their old cars in other states at a very low price.
