Uttar Pradesh Police distributed appointment letters to 60,244 selected candidates at Defense Expo Ground in Lucknow on Sunday as part of the country’s largest soldier recruitment. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were present in this grand ceremony. The event was memorable not only for selected candidates of Uttar Pradesh, but also Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan. One month hard work and accurate plan
The Uttar Pradesh Police started working a month in advance to prepare for this historic ceremony. The briefing was done every day with high level officials led by Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Krishna. To make the program smooth and safe, every small and big arrangement was closely noticed. To ensure the arrangements for bringing the candidates from their homes to Lucknow, their stay, eating and drinking. Different responsibilities were entrusted to ADG level officials. ADG traffic was given the responsibility of traffic system and ADG Cybercrime for the main platform.
Transport system: huge convoy of 1239 buses
Uttar Pradesh Police arranged 1239 buses of State Transport Corporation to bring 60,244 candidates from their districts to Lucknow. A sub-inspector and two women constables were deployed in each bus. Not only this, ADG level officials were deployed for this entire arrangement. The responsibility of traffic was given to ADG traffic. The responsibility of the main stage of the venue was given to ADG Cybercrime. DGP Rajiv Krishna himself was taking briefing of all these arrangements daily.
Different buses
There were separate buses for women and male candidates, and women candidates had only women policemen in the buses. Each bus was provided with a police escort, which ensured security to the border of its district and then assigned the responsibility to the police of the next district.
Verification of drivers
Bus drivers were verified so that no one was in a state of intoxication. The drivers were instructed to run the bus in controlled speed. Each bus had first aid kits and water bottles available.
Arrangement to bring candidates from other states
Along with Uttar Pradesh, 1,145 selected candidates of Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan were also brought to Lucknow. Candidates from Bihar and Jharkhand were gathered in Varanasi. Candidates of Madhya Pradesh were collected in Jhansi and Prayagraj. Candidates of Delhi and Haryana were gathered to the candidates of Meerut, Uttarakhand, Saharanpur, and Rajasthan candidates in Agra and brought to Lucknow by buses. There were the same security and facilities for these candidates, which were given to the candidates of Uttar Pradesh.
Traffic and security management
Extensive arrangements were made to ensure that more than 60,000 candidates reach out to reach Lucknow simultaneously. Lucknow and surrounding 10 districts (Kanpur Nagar, Rae Bareli, Sultanpur, Fatehpur, Sitapur, Mahoba, Unnao, Amethi, Basti, and Jalaun) were banned from Saturday evening to Sunday evening. Additional employees, guidance signage, and ticket counters were extended at metro stations. Helpline number 9454405155 and transport control room number 8726005808 were issued for traffic control. CCTV cameras, metal detectors, dog squads, and quick response teams were deployed at the venue. Intelligence department officials were also present in plain clothes.
Night stay and food arrangements
Candidates coming from remote districts were stayed in 17 districts around Lucknow on Saturday night. In these districts, arrangements were made for the candidates to stay at night. Candidates of 40 districts were rushed to these intermediate districts by 11 pm on Saturday night. Eating and drinking arrangements were made at the sites. All buses left for Lucknow at 1 pm on Sunday afternoon, so that the candidates could reach the Defense Expo Ground on time.
Candidates’ convenience and discipline
Uttar Pradesh Police paid special attention to the convenience and discipline of the candidates. Candidates were instructed to wear khaki pants, white shirts, and shoes. In view of the possibility of rain, it was advisable to bring Rainkot. A gazetted officer from each district came to Lucknow with the candidates. There was a help desk and first aid at the venue. Such Uttar Pradesh Police concluded the biggest appointment letter distribution program of the largest recruitment.
Transparency of recruitment process
This recruitment was the largest and transparent recruitment of Uttar Pradesh Police so far. Out of 48.17 lakh applications, 15.49 lakh were women. The cancellation of the canceled on 24 February 2024 due to paper leaks was held again in August 2024. The examination took place in 10 shifts in 5 days, in which OMR sheets were scanned under CCTV surveillance. 60,244 candidates were selected after the written examination, physical efficiency test, and document verification, which included 12,048 women.
