Describing security from sexual offenses of women and children as the priority of the government, Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur said on Wednesday (March 12, 2025) that 745 fast track special courts including 404 Special Poxo Courts are employed in the country, which has disposed of more than 3,06,000 cases."Text-Align: justify;"> Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur told the Rajya Sabha that the government started the state -wise fast track special courts in 2019 to ensure justice to women and children suffering from sexual offenses."Text-Align: justify;"> In response to the supplementary questions during the Question Hour, he said that so far 790 fast track special courts have been approved. Of these, 404 special poxo courts including 745 fast track special courts are working in 30 states and union territories. These include more than 3,06,000 cases of crimes under rape and poxo (protection from sexual exploitation) Act.
He said that children suffering from sexual harassment are helped under the Nirbhaya Kosh and they are also counseled.
In response to another supplementary question, Savitri Thakur said that in every district to help them in case of sexual harassment of girls at a young age & lsquo; One Stop Center & rsquo; Have been opened. He told that except West Bengal, in all states & lsquo; One Stop Center & rsquo; There are facilities for medical assistance, legal aid, police assistance, counseling etc.
He told that a help line number is available to help the victim, on which she is given help within twenty minutes when the call comes. He told that there is a provision of vehicles for the victim and they are also counseling.
He told that by coming to the One Stop Center, the victim can stay for five days and if she wants to stay ahead, she is kept in other centers according to the situation. He informed that there are 802 forest stop centers across the country, which has been helped to more than 10.80 lakh victims by 31 January 2025.
He said that he said that 14,658 women help desks have been set up to make police stations more favorable and accessible for women, out of which 13,743 are prominent women police officers. According to him, emergency response aid system (ERSS) has been established in all 36 states and union territories in various emergency to help the needy and endless women.
He told that except West Bengal, the specialized women’s helpline is working in 35 states and union territories. It has also been integrated with ERSS.
