On Saturday, TVK (Tamilga Vatri Kazhagam) chief and actor -turned -actor -turned -actor -turned -actor became a big tragedy during the rally. During the stampede, Vijay stopped his speech and tried to calm the crowd. He appealed to the security personnel to help in controlling the crowd.
Actor Vijay’s response in Reilly
TVK chief Vijay said during the stampede, “Police team please help.” He appealed to the ambulance to make way and urged to help the people trapped in the crowd. The injured and unconscious people were rushed to the hospital via ambulance, although there was a delay in reaching the hospital due to the crowd.
Chief Minister MK Stalin ordered an inquiry
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin reacted to this tragedy and described it as “worrying”. He said in the X post that he has instructed the officials that people trapped in the crowd and unconscious should be immediately admitted to the hospital and treated them. He also spoke to former minister Senthil Balaji, Minister Subramanian MA and District Collector on this matter.

Also, neighboring Tiruchirappalli district minister Ambil Mahesh was also ordered to provide immediate assistance. Stalin appealed to the general public to cooperate with doctors and police.
Criticism of Vijay’s rally
Former Chief Minister and AIADMK General Secretary E. Palaniswami described the incident as “heartbreaking and embarrassing”. He directed the party workers to reach the hospital and help the injured.
Palaniswami wrote in his X post that “more than 29 people died and many people fainted, this incident is very sad and heartbreaking. I express my deepest condolences to the families of the dead.” Former minister MR Vijaybhaskar was also instructed to reach the hospital and help the people admitted there.
