A 22-year-old newly married person was allegedly beaten to death in a borrowing dispute of 200 rupees in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. After the incident, family members protested and placed the body on the Gonda-Lucknow highway. The deceased Hriday Lal Lal was a mason of Laxmanpur Jat village, he had lent Rs 700 to Ram Anuj of the village itself. On August 1, when Lal asked for 200 rupees back, a hot debate started between them.

The dispute became violent and Anuj, his brother Ram Kishore, sons Jagdish and nephews Pankaj and Chandan allegedly attacked him with sticks. Lal, who was taken to Lucknow for treatment, died on Monday. On Monday evening, when the body was being brought back to an ambulance from Lucknow, the family tried to block the Gonda-Lucknow highway by placing the body on the road in Balpur.

The police stationed from four local police stations intervened, opened the blockade using light force and ensured to take the body to the village. Initially, the family refused to perform the last rites, demanding strict action on the houses of the accused and ‘running bulldozers’.

He informed that the post -mortem has been done in Lucknow and further legal action will be taken on the basis of the report. Police force has been deployed in the village to maintain peace. Lal’s family members said that he was married a month ago.
