The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has chosen Rajinder Gupta, President of the Trident Group for the Rajya Sabha by -election. This seat was vacant after Sanjay Arora contested and became a minister.
According to sources, Rajinder Gupta is expected to file nomination in the Punjab Assembly tomorrow and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will also be present on the occasion.

AAP had first considered Kamal Oswal of Oswal Group for this seat, but Rajinder Gupta’s name was finalized in the final discussion.
Aam Aadmi Party relations with industrialists
This is another step of the party, in which industrialist face is being sent from Punjab to Rajya Sabha, as earlier with a businessman to politician like Sanjeev Arora. With this decision, efforts are being seen to maintain industrial and political balance in the AAP strategy.
The by -election for a Rajya Sabha seat in Punjab has been announced. The seat was vacant after the resignation of MP Sanjeev Arora in July and now it will be voted for it. Voting and counting for this seat will be held on 24 October.

Rajinder Gupta is one of the richest industrialists of Punjab. Products manufactured by Trident Group are now exported at domestic and international levels. He is the founder and chairman of Trident Limited, a major organization of the 1 billion dollar company Trident Group. According to reports, Rajinder Gupta has also been the richest person in Punjab.
Rajinder Gupta was born on 2 January 1959. The headquarters of the Trident Group is located in Ludhiana, Punjab. The major industries of this group include home textiles, paper manufacturing, chemicals and power.
