Satyendra Jain has been a Health Minister in the AAP government in Delhi.
President Draupadi Murmu has given permission to run a case against AAP leader Satyendra Jain in the money laundering case today. The Union Home Ministry sought approval from the President on 14 February in the matter.
A case will be run against former Delhi Health Minister Jain under Section 218 of BNS. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) may soon arrest Jain after getting approval from the President.
The Ministry made this request on the basis of investigation of ED and adequate evidence. The investigating agency CBI had registered a case against Jain in 2017 in the money-laundering case related to the alleged hawala transaction and the ED started investigation.
He was arrested on 30 May 2022. He got bail in October 2024 after being in jail for about 18 months. Since then they are outside. The ED has filed a charge sheet against him.
Satyendra Jain addressed party workers after coming out of Tihar on 18 October.
What is the whole matter Former minister Jain is accused that he bought movable properties in the name of many people between 2015 and 2017. Later, ED also registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Jain is alleged that several companies owned by him received Rs 4.81 crore from Shell companies in lieu of cash transfer to entry operators in Kolkata through hawala.
Apart from Satyendra, a case was also registered against his wife Poonam Jain, Ajit Prasad Jain, Sunil Kumar Jain, Vaibhav Jain and Ankush Jain.
ED also demanded from court in January In January 2025, the ED demanded from the court that charges against Satyendra Jain should be framed as the investigation has found adequate evidence against him. The ED says that Satyendra Jain and his associates conspired to hide illegal money through fake companies and invest in assets.
