Former Mau MLA Abbas Ansari has not received any relief from the court in the Hate Speech case. The MP/MLA court has dismissed all three petitions filed against his sentence, which retained his two -year sentence. Along with this, according to the rules, their legislature is considered to be ended automatically.
Abbas Ansari was accused of making inflammatory speeches during the election. In this case, he has already been convicted and sentenced to two years. He had filed three petitions by pleading for relief against this, but on Friday, the MP/MLA court dismissed all the petitions.
Such a legislator
Abbas Ansari has challenged the verdict in the district judge’s court, where the matter is still pending. However, at present his MLA membership is considered to be canceled as the legislature automatically disappears under the repair of two years or more under the Representation of People Act.
Next step will depend on hearing in district court
This case is being considered a major turn in the politics of Uttar Pradesh, because Abbas Ansari is the son of Mafia Mukhtar Ansari and remains in the headlines. According to administrative sources, now the next decision will depend on the hearing to be held in the district court. If there is no relief from there, then further appeal can be made in the High Court.
What is the matter?
This case is during the 2022 assembly elections. During an election public meeting at Paharpura Maidan in Mau Nagar Kotwali area, Abbas Ansari made a controversial statement while giving a speech from the stage. In his speech, he had said that after the formation of the government, the transfer and posting of the officials will be banned, so that the officers can be ‘accounts’ first.
After this statement, the matter caught up and it was considered as a hate speech. An FIR was lodged in Mau Nagar Kotwali on behalf of the then SI Gangaram Bind, in which Abbas Ansari and others were accused. The police considered this statement given from the election forum against the election code of conduct and peace.
