A serious case of sexual harassment with a minor girl has come to light in Madhapur police station area of Hyderabad. The incident took place at NPP Executive Working Women’s Hostel at Arnav Plaza on Image Garden Road, where the victim was living.
According to local sources, the victim is 16 years old and is a resident of Boraband region. The victim was allegedly being sexually harassed by the owner of the hostel for several days. When the victim told this to her family, the matter caught up.
Case registered under Poxo Act
On Saturday, the victim’s parents and some local women reached the hostel and staged a strong protest. During this time, angry women damaged hostel windows, furniture and plants pots, the situation became tense on the spot.
Madhapur police reached the spot as soon as the information of the incident was received, but before the police arrived, the protesting women had left from there. After this, the victim’s father lodged a written complaint at the Madhapur police station, on the basis of which the police have registered a case against the hostel owner under the Sangat sections of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act.
Special investigation team in view of seriousness
Police officials said that a special investigation team has been formed in view of the seriousness of the case. The victim’s statement has been recorded and medical examination has also been done. Also, the CCTV footage installed in the hostel is being investigated and other employees were also questioned.
