Amid the celebrations being celebrated across the country on the occasion of 79th Independence Day, a controversy has arisen over a social media post of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The ministry congratulated the countrymen by sharing a picture on its X (East Twitter) handle.

In this picture, a picture of Veer Savarkar was also put along with Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, to which the Congress has reacted sharply. The special thing was that Savarkar’s picture was installed right next to Gandhiji.

The ministry wrote in the post, “When we are celebrating the freedom of our nation, remember-freedom flourishes only when we irrigate it with unity, condolences and karma every day.”

Congress attack

After this post, the Congress immediately retaliated. Congress leader Pawan Kheda wrote on X, “While adulting the ethanol in petrol, now you started adulterating the freedom fighters. Those who cannot become big in history, are making them big in posters. The country is asking for cheap oil from you, not cheap comedy.”

At the same time, former Youth Congress President Srinivas Biwi also reacted sharply. He described Savarkar as “a traitor to be involved in the conspiracy to kill the British pension” and “the conspiracy to assassinate Mahatma Gandhi”. He said that on Independence Day, showing Savarkar bigger than Gandhi is an insult to all the freedom fighters, due to which the country got freedom.
