after 50 year of emergency foreign minister s jaishankar directly targeted Congress party

50 year of emergency: 50 years ago, during the reign of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, ‘Emergency’ was imposed in the country and during that time the public protested a lot and was called the murder of the Constitution. Today, 50 years have been completed for that incident and till date the Congress government is condemned. This day is celebrated by the Congress opponents ‘Constitution Day’.

On this occasion, Union Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar discussed in detail the situation and its effects about the Emergency at a press conference held at the Delhi BJP headquarters. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, media chief Praveen Shankar Kapoor, Delhi BJP Yuva Morcha president Sagar Tyagi, state spokesperson Yasir Jilani and Yuva Morcha media chief Shubham Malik were also present in this press conference.

Not a political decision, but the murder of the constitution

Dr. Jaishankar said that he himself was a youth during the Emergency in 1975 and he saw the reality of that time closely. He told how democracy, media and freedom of expression were strangled. S. Jaishankar said- ‘It was not just a political decision, but the murder of the Constitution. Censorship on media, arrest of opposition leaders and prohibition of expression of common citizens are all the identity of that era.

Talking about the mock parliamentary program, the Foreign Minister also explained how the Emergency decision damaged India’s global image. He said that our credibility was hurt when the world saw that a democratic country like India can curb the freedom of its own citizens.

This thing said about Congress party

Dr. S. Jaishankar said- ‘A major reason for emergency was centralization of power and keeping a family above the country. Today’s situation is different. India now gives a clear message that terrorism will not be tolerated at any cost. This is national thinking, in which both the government and the opposition are united. Attacking the Congress party directly, he said that today some people take a copy of the Constitution, but do not respect it heartily. Did the Congress ever apologize to the country for the Emergency? This is the same party that crushed both democracy and constitution.

S. S. S. Jaishankar said how India lodged a strong objection to an attempt by a member country to ignore terrorism. We made it clear that if terrorism is not discussed, then India will not accept any statement.

Emergency is a ‘black chapter’ in the history of Indian democracy

Dr. Jaishankar said that emergency is not only a matter of debate, but a ‘black chapter’ in the history of Indian democracy. He lashed out at the opposition and said- ‘Today, people who are calling the last 11 years emergency, they forget that if today there were really emergency, neither Parliament would run nor would those who asked the government be saved, as it was in Congress rule.
