Air India said decided to Reduce International Services on Wide Body Aircraft by 15 per cent for next few weeks

Air India Reduce International Services: Air India said on Wednesday (June 18, 2025) that it has been decided to cut international services by 15 percent for the next few weeks. This deduction will be implemented between June 20 and after that at least mid -July.

The airline said that it effectively increases the availability of our reserved aircraft to deal with any accident, as we are in mourning about the death of 241 passengers and crew members aboard AI 171. This decision has been taken in view of the stability of our operation and reducing the inconvenience to the passengers.

‘Passengers will be given full refund’
The statement said that Air India apologizes to the affected passengers due to these cuts and they will be informed about it. We will try our best to get them other alternative flights. Passengers will also be given the option to revive their journey without any cost or to get full refund as per their choice.

The airline said that from June 20, 2025, the revised schedule of our international services will be shared soon. The statement said that the cut is a painful step, but a disastrous incident that we are still struggling and it has become necessary after many external events.

‘We will emerge stronger than this sad incident’
Air India said that this has been done to restore operating stability and reduce the inconvenience of passengers at the last minute. With the continuous support of our passengers, Ministry of Civil Aviation and all over India, we will emerge stronger than this tragic incident. By coordinating with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Government of Gujarat, Air India is making every effort to assist the family members of the dead and the injured.

‘Air India’s Boeing 777 aircraft will also be investigated’
The DGCA had directed to examine Air India’s Boeing 787-8/9 aircraft. Out of a total of 33 aircraft, 26 has been completed and they have been approved for service, while the rest of the investigation will be completed in the coming days.

The statement said that as an additional precaution, Air India will also examine its Boeing 777 aircraft and we will continue to cooperate with the officials to ensure the safety of our passengers, crew and aircraft, which is our top priority.
