There was a loud explosion on the testing site of Elon Musk’s company’s starship in Massey, Texas. After the explosion, preparations for the next launch of Starship have been completely discontinued. This incident happened when preparations were being made for the important static fire test of Ship 36. This test is a process in which the rocket engines are started keeping the ground stable, so that the system can be finalized before the launch.
At the same time, eyewitnesses said that the debris spread throughout the campus due to the sudden fierce explosion on the site. The explosion has caused severe damage to the Starship Prototype, due to which SpaceX has postponed all launch preparations indefinitely. The company was planning a tenth test flight of the world’s largest and powerful rocket system on 29 June.
SpaceX confirmed the accident
SpaceX has issued a statement confirming the accident. SpaceX said in the statement, ‘A safe area was created around the test site during the entire operation and all employees are safe. Everyone is being taken care of. Our starbase team is actively working with local authorities to secure the test site and its surrounding area and there is no threat to the people living nearby.
This incident is another shock to the Starship program in the year 2025. Earlier this year, two Starships Test flights were damaged in the explosion immediately after the launch- one over the Caribbean Sea and the other in the Atlantic Ocean uncontrolled and scattered into pieces.
Following these incidents, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) started investigating and the aircraft was temporarily closed.
