Alert on bird flu in UP, CM Yogi ordered additional vigilance in zoos – UP Alert Regarding Bird Flu CM Yogi Ordered to Take Extra Precautions in ZoS LCLY

In view of the possible threat of bird flu in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday ordered to increase security in all the zoos, bird sanctuaries, national parks, wetlands and cowsheds in the state. According to an official statement, the Chief Minister ordered regular cleaning of zoo complexes and emphasized immediate implementation of measures as per the central and state guidelines.

Cleaning measures include the use of blow-side and compulsory health check-up of all animals and birds if necessary. He said that they should be given food only after thorough examination of the diet of animals and to ensure complete compliance with security, the duty of employees in enclosures should be put on the basis of the level of risk.

The Chief Minister directed that the zoo employees should be trained to detect and prevent the spread of bird flu, scientifically called avian influenza. Also, they should be equipped with PPE kits and safety equipment.

The Chief Minister also called for monitoring all the poultry farms of Uttar Pradesh and keeping strict control over the movement of poultry products. Apart from this, the Health Department has also been instructed to study the possible impact of bird flu on humans and submit a report to prevent the spread of transition to the general public.

Apart from this, the Chief Minister directed the Central Zoo Authority, National Center for Disease Control Center, Ministry of Health, Fisheries and Dairy Department and Indian Veterinary Research Institute (Bareilly) to maintain continuous coordination and ensure timely implementation of their recommendations.
