On Sunday (August 17, 2025), the Election Commission responded to the allegations being made by the opposition regarding Bihar SIR. The Election Commission said, “We want to convey a message to the voters that according to the Constitution of India, every citizen of India who has completed the age of 18 years should definitely vote.”
‘How can Election Commission bias’
The Election Commission said that according to the law, every party is born from the registration of the Election Commission, then how can the Election Commission bias with anyone. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said, “For the last two decades, all political parties have been demanding improvement in voter list. To meet this demand, the Election Commission has started the SIR from Bihar.”
What did the Election Commission say on allegations of vote theft?
The Chief Election Commissioner said, “According to the law, if the errors in the voter lists are not shared in time, if the election petition is not filed in the court within 45 days of choosing his candidate and then failed to mislead the public using wrong words like vote theft, then what is not an insult to the Constitution of India?”
‘Misinformation is being spread on Bihar SIR’
Chief Election Commissioner Dnyanesh Kumar said, “It is a matter of serious concern that some parties and their leaders are spreading misinformation about SIR in Bihar. There is still 15 days left for disturbances in Bihar SIR. Efforts are being made to spread confusion by ignoring the ground truth. Election Commission doors are equally open for the most. The doors of the Election Commission are equally open. Booth level officers and agents are working with transparent methods.”
