The Bharatiya Janata Party has been the introduction of icon politics in Indian politics. The party has created new icons in every corner of the country. After 2014, the party almost destroyed other parties due to this strategy. Rekha Gupta, the leader of this party, who has become the new Chief Minister of Delhi, made a big mistake in rectifying a mistake of his previous government as soon as he took over. Due to this mistake of CM Gupta, the party may have to suffer a lot in future. The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday alleged that the ruling BJP government in Delhi removed pictures of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh from the Chief Minister’s office and in their place Mahatma Gandhi, President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been replaced. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has not denied the allegations of the Aam Aadmi Party. Gupta says that the Aam Aadmi Party is creating such unnecessary controversy to avoid damage from the CAG report. Gupta said that the AAP is trying to hide its ‘corruption and misdeeds’ by making such allegations. It is obvious that the Aam Aadmi Party has got an issue sitting sitting.
AAP leader and former Chief Minister Atishi held a press conference and surrounded the BJP on this issue. He said, ‘BJP’s anti -Dalit mentality is well known. Today evidence of his anti -Dalit mentality has been presented. Arvind Kejriwal had put pictures of Babasaheb Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh in every office of Delhi government. Ever since the BJP came to power, it has removed both these pictures from the Chief Minister’s office. This shows that BJP is anti -Dalit and anti -Sikh party. Atishi’s allegations were also repeated by the party’s head and former CM Arvind Kejriwal. He posted on his X handle, ‘The new BJP government of Delhi removed the photo of Babasaheb and put a photo of Prime Minister Modi. This is not correct. This has hurt millions of followers of Baba Saheb. I plead with BJP. You can put a photo of the Prime Minister, but do not remove the photo of Babasaheb. Let his photo stay there. It is obvious that if this issue of Baba Saheb Ambedkar has arisen, then it will go far. The Aam Aadmi Party is not going to sit silent. At present, Congress and other parties are still quiet but can catch this issue anytime.
1-This is Rekha Gupta’s clumsyness
Rekha Gupta has been a student leader. Gupta, who is one of the BJP’s fiery female leaders, has become an MLA for the first time and has reached the Chief Minister’s chair directly. It is said that the Sangh has also received blessings, but the way the Sangh or the BJP has proved to be a Prof. Dalit in the country’s other parties on the subject of Dalits continuously for the last few years. Even after this, if he decided to change the place of Dalit Icon Ambedkar’s photo, then it will be considered his clumsyness. Although it is also true that what he did is right in terms of administratively, but democracy has its own compulsions. She probably did not succeed in understanding this.
It has been a practice in the country that a photo of the Prime Minister, President and Father of the country Mahatma Gandhi has been seen in a Chief Minister’s office. In this context, Rekha Gupta did whatever he did. More than that, Rekha Gupta rectified a huge mistake of the Aam Aadmi Party government. The Aam Aadmi Party had presented a wrong Nazir by removing the picture of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the country, which was done by Rekha Gupta to improve Delhi. But perhaps politics is not done in this way.
Rekha Gupta should understand that the BJP accepted to give all the Revdis given by the Aam Aadmi Party government, not wanting to win Delhi. Similarly, pictures of Dr. Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh should have been put in the pictures of PM Modi, President Murmu and Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi in Delhi CM’s government office. After all, BJP has to make its place in Punjab. BJP has formed a government once in Kashmir. There is still a second party there. In this way, in North India, only Punjab is the only state left where saffron wave is yet to be made. Dalit vote in Punjab is close to 34 percent. Along with this, Bhagat Singh is X factor for Punjab. Therefore, by ignoring both of them, BJP will do its own harm.
2-Why this controversy can put the BJP in trouble
The BJP had to come on the backfoot due to the propaganda of change in the Constitution in the last Lok Sabha elections. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the field was completely clear for the Bharatiya Janata Party. The opposition was already discouraged. But the BJP’s slogan of bringing 400 crosses seats was publicized by the opposition in such a way that the BJP wants to change the reservation by changing the constitution. This campaign became so heavy that the BJP had to pity for a sufficient majority.
Similarly, speaking in Parliament a few days ago, he was propagated by cutting the front and back of a statement of Home Minister Amit Shah in such a way that he felt that he had insulted Baba Saheb. Later, Home Minister Amit Shah had to explain it by doing PC that he did not mean to say this. The opposition is showing his speech by distorting.
In fact, the number of Dalits in the country is about 17 percent. 84 seats out of 543 Lok Sabha seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 44 seats are reserved for tribes. Similarly, seats are reserved for SC and ST in the assemblies of the country. Apart from these reserved seats, SC and ST voters play a decisive role in the elections in a total of quarter seats in the country. In the total 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly itself, 17 seats are reserved for the SC community. Apart from this, Dalit vote plays decisive role in some other seats. There is a record in the Delhi Legislative Assembly till date that the parties which win the reserved seat maximum prove to be capable of forming a government in the state. If BJP has to rule Delhi for a long time, then you have to learn to avoid such mistakes.
3- Has Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh really removed from Delhi CM office?
On the allegations of the Aam Aadmi Party leaders to remove the photo of Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh, CM Rekha says that ‘Shouldn’t the government not be photographed? Shouldn’t the President of the country be photographed? Shouldn’t the picture of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi be put up? Bhagat Singh and Baba Saheb are respected celebrities of the country and our guide. Therefore, this room belongs to the Chief Minister of Delhi and we have given him a place as the head of the government. It is not my job to answer them (Atishi and Kejriwal). I am accountable to people.
However, Delhi BJP has released a picture of the CM office and put its side on the allegations of the Aam Aadmi Party. In the picture of CM office posted on X by Delhi BJP, pictures of President Draupadi Murmu, Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and PM Narendra Modi are seen behind the Chief Minister’s chair. In this picture, the picture of Dr. BR Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh is seen on the wall on the right side of the Chief Minister of Delhi. Looking at this picture, it can be said that the picture of BR Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh has not been removed in the CM office. Just their place has been changed. From a logical point of view, this decision is correct, but in political terms it is not going to do good for the BJP.
