The Indian Army has now received the first batch of Apache AH-64E fighter helicopter, which has been posted on Jodhpur Airbase in Rajasthan. Earlier, these helicopters were only with the Indian Air Force. Now the Army has gained the ability to react to a fiery borders by the deployment of these powerful helicopters.
The deployment of these helicopters has the ability to change India’s strategic strategy. This decision underlines that the Indian Army is now moving towards multi-domain operations, where the synergy between the Army and the Air Force is very important.
Equipped with advanced sensor and night vision system
The biggest feature of Apache helicopter is its advanced sensor system. It has night vision and thermal imaging sensors, which can identify the enemy accurately even in the dark and bad weather of the night. Its Target Acquisition System and Pilot Night Vision Sensor (PNVs) also gives the pilot the capacity of accurate attack in low visibility.
Radar and communication system
This helicopter is equipped with An/APG-78 longbow radar and joint tactical information distribution system (JTIDS), which makes it useful in network-centric warfare. It is also capable of transferring data to CDL and Ku Frequency Band.
Apache’s Weapon System Capacity in Multi-Toargate attacks
The weapons in Apache make it extremely dangerous in any battlefield, which is as follows:
AGM-114 Hellfire Missile: capable of destroying tanks and armored vehicles.
Hydra 70 Rockets: 70mm ungetted rockets, attack on ground locations.
Stinger Missiles: air -to -air missiles.
Spike Nlos Missiles: Can target target up to 25+ km.
This helicopter can attack 16 different goals by locking 128 targets in a minute. Its multi-target environment capacity makes it extremely useful in crowded battlefields.
Flight capabilities
The maximum speed of Apache helicopter ranges from 280 to 365 km/h. In addition, it can fly for 3.5 hours at a time and goes up to 500 km at the operational range (even more with the outer fuel tank). This means that it can patrol and attack long distances.
Drone control and network-ported warfare
The Apache helicopter can control drones like MQ-1C gray eagle, which begins a new era of human-masine teaming (mum-t). With its sensor and radar system, it is also efficient in reconnaissance missions.
Multi domain coordination
The design of this helicopter makes it ideal for multi-domain operations. It can work together in ground strike, air defense and Ricon missions.
Capacity and Bakhtarbandi of two pilots
This helicopter is designed for two pilots, one for flight operations and another for weapon control. Its empty weight is 6,838 kg and the maximum take-off weight is 10,433 kg. It has also been equipped with armor to protect against small arms, bullets and ballistic missiles.
