Security forces in Manipur have arrested 10 militants associated with various banned organizations during different campaigns in the last few days. The officers provided this information. The paramilitary force said on Saturday (October 04, 2025) that the soldiers of Assam Rifles from the forests of Churachandpur district arrested a ‘senior commander’ of a banned organization and five other militants.
Bal said that these militants were arrested during a campaign on October 1. Bal said in a statement, ‘Assam Rifles carried out a adventure campaign called’ Operation Songkot ‘in the forest on October 1 and arrested’ United Cookie National Army ‘(UKNA) Senior Commander SS Lt Jamkhogin Guite Lufo alias Pepsi.’
UKNA network shocks in Churachandpur and Ziribam
The statement said that five other militants were also arrested during the campaign. The statement said, ‘This successful campaign has given a big blow to the UKNA network in Churachandpur and Ziribam. This confirms the unwavering commitment of Assam Rifles for peace and security in the region.
Officials in Manipur said that the UKNA commander was allegedly involved in the murder of four members of the Meeti community including a father and son in Bishnupur district in January 2024. Meanwhile, the police said that four militants from various banned organizations were arrested on Friday (October 03, 2025) from Thobal and Imphal West districts.
People of banned organization arrested at different places
A police official said two active members, including a woman from the banned organization ‘Kanglipak Communist Party’ (Apunba), were arrested from Thobbal Wangkhem, while a self -proclaimed corporal of the People’s Liberation Army was arrested from Ningombam in Imphal West.
He said that security forces have also arrested a member of KCP (PWG) from Naoramthong in Imphal West. Meanwhile, the police have instructed their soldiers of Churachandpur district not to meet the demands of alleged forcibly recovery of illegal organizations.
Superintendent of Police warns policemen
In one order, the Superintendent of Police has warned the policemen not to bow down to such demands. The Superintendent of Police said, “It has been reported that some illegal organizations are demanding money from the policemen of Churachandpur.”
He said, “All the officers of the district police are instructed not to bow down to such demands.” More than 260 people have been killed and thousands of people have died in ethnic violence and thousands of people have been rendered homeless since May 2023, which live in the Imphal Valley and the Group of Cookie-Groups living in the surrounding hilly areas.
