Asaduddin Owaisi Slams BJP on Religious Freedom And Muslim Rights in India Aimim Yogi Adityanath Constitution

Religious freedom: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi expressed concern over the increasing incidents against Muslims in the country. Addressing a public meeting on Friday (March 14), he said that honor and dignity is the fundamental right of every citizen which has been secured by the Constitution. He alleged that arbitrary powers are being misused against Muslims, causing their rights to be violated.

Owaisi in his speech expressed displeasure over some recent statements made by BJP leaders. He condemned the statement of West Bengal leader Shubhendu Adhikari in which he said that if the BJP comes to power, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) Muslim MLAs would be excluded from the assembly. Apart from this, he also reacted strongly to the comment of a BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh, in which Muslim men were advised to wear hijab made of tarpaulin during Holi. Owaisi said that such statements not only promote discrimination but are also against religious freedom.

Opposition to the appeal of CM Yogi Adityanath over Namaz

Owaisi also questioned the comment of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in which he appealed to Muslims to offer prayers at home on the day of Holi. Owaisi, citing Article-25 of the Constitution, said that every person in India has the freedom to follow his religion and no government or Chief Minister can take away this right. He said, “One Chief Minister is saying that the prayers of Jumme can be read at home, but should I learn religion from them? Our Constitution has given us religious freedom and we will follow our religion in the same way that we want to do.”

Owaisi’s response to division

During his speech, Owaisi, while mentioning the partition of 1947, said that those who went to Pakistan were considered coward, while those who lived in India considered it their motherland and will always consider it as their country. He said that Muslims have always been proud of their homeland and they will not tolerate any kind of discrimination.
