Parliament session: On Monday (March 17, 2025) in Parliament, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav responded to the discussion in the Rajya Sabha and then the Lok Sabha in response to the discussion on the Railway Finance Bill. In his reply, the Railway Minister also gave data regarding many important cases related to the public.

‘Export from Indian Railways in the world’

The Railway Minister informed that Railways is exporting metro coaches, bogies, propulsion, passenger coaches and locomotives to various countries. Australia is being exported to metro coaches and propulsion to UK, Saudi Arabia and France to Bogi, Mexico, Romania, Spain, Germany and Italy. Mozambique, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka are being exported to passenger coaches and locomotives to Mozambique, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Bangladesh.

‘Rail engines made in Bihar will be seen worldwide’

Soon the Made in Bihar locomotives will be seen worldwide. Currently, 100 locos made from Madhaura in Saran district will be exported soon. Apart from this, the forged wheel used in high speed trains was till now from Ukraine but now it is being made in Tamil Nadu. It will also be exported soon. This year 1400 locomotives are being built which will be a record, they are more than that of America and Europe. Apart from this, about two lakh new wagons are connected in Indian Railways this year.

‘Railways has become financially self -reliant’

The Railway Minister told the House that the railway has recovered from the problem of finance due to Kovid. Railways have a revenue of about two lakh eighth thousand crore rupees and two lakhs are expenses of backwards. Today the railway is spending all its expenses by itself. The cost of the staff is one lakh sixteen thousand crores. The cost of pension bill is about sixteen thousand crore rupees. The cost of energy is thirty -two thousand crores.

‘Indian Railways in top three countries’

Indian Railways will join the top three countries in the world by 31 March 25 in the area of ​​cargo transportation. This year the Railways has carried 1.6 billion tonnes of cargo. India and the US figure is equal while China has more. All three countries will join the top ten.

‘LHB coaches will be installed in all passenger trains by 2029’

The new LHB coaches are more secure than the old ICF coaches. So far, 41000 LHB coaches have become coaches. In the current term of the Modi government, all ICF coaches will be replaced by the new LHB coach.

‘Indian Railways is in profit’

The railway costs Rs 1.38 to take a passenger for one kilometer. While the rent is only 73 paise. That is, a subsidy of about 47 percent is given to the passengers. In the year 22-23, a subsidy of 57 thousand crore rupees was given, while in the year 2023-24 this subsidy is about 60 thousand crores. Let us know that the railway earns from the freight itself and gives some part in the passenger subsidy.

‘Railway’s net zero target’

Railways have set a target of 2030 to achieve the net zero target in terms of carbon emissions. It will be completed in two stages. Right now the railway is also using fossil fuel but by 2030 its use will be completely closed. This target is under Scope 2. The target of Scope 1 will be met this year. Under which the railway emissions as much carbon as it contributes to the environment.

‘One lakh job process is going on’

In the last ten years, Railways have given employment to five lakh people, while four lakh people were given employment in UPA. At this time, the process of providing employment to one lakh people is going on.

‘Railway free travel pass is also required for children’

Samajwadi Party MP from Etawah, Jitendra Dohra said in the House today that the MP and his wife get a free pass of railway journey but where should their children go.
