Shops open 24 hours in assam: The Himanta government has taken a big decision regarding shops and commercial establishments in Assam. In some districts of the state, now 24 hours shops will be open. This important decision was taken in the Assam cabinet meeting. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that now all shops and business establishments in Guwahati, Dibrugarh and Silchar have been allowed to keep 24 hours open.
CM Himanta posted on X and said that now 24 hours shops and other commercial establishments will be open without compromising the officials and facilities of the workers in Guwahati, Dibrugarh and Silchar. This decision will not apply to liquor shops and bars.
Now Shops Can Operate 24*7 in Guwahati, Dibrugarh and Silchar and with Extended Timings in Other Areas without Compromising on Worker Rights and Conveniences!

CM Himanta said that except Guwahati, Dibrugarh and Silchar, shops in the rest of the cities will be allowed to be opened by 2 pm, while the deadline will be held till 11 pm in rural areas. The CM clarified that the workers will not be allowed to be exploited during this period. He will work 48 hours a week or a maximum of nine hours daily.
How much will workers be able to do overtime?
Assam CM said that if someone wants to work for 24 hours, then he will have to work in three shifts, that is, they will work in overtime. This overtime should not be more than 125 hours in three months. During this time, workers will have to provide all safety goods.

The Chief Minister said that businessmen will not be able to get workers for more than 5 hours of consecutive hours. They will also have to give a break in the middle. He said that allowing shops to open 24 hours will help small businesses and if the number of shifts increases, it will create job opportunities. This will also speed up the development of Assam.
