Jitendra Singh, Minister of Space Department in the Central Government, said on Saturday that India’s astronaut group Captain Shukla will take biotech kits for scientific experiments related to research and germination (plant growing plants) on plants at the International Space Station (ISS).
He said that Shubhanshu Shukla will do special scientific experiments related to food and nutrition on ISS under AXIOM Mission 4 (AX-4). These experiments have been prepared by ISRO and Department of Biotechnology (DBT), in which NASA is also cooperating.
Jitendra Singh said that Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla will be in the role of pilot in this mission. He will be accompanied by American astronaut Pegi Witson (Commander), Slavosh in Poland and Tibor of Hungary. Shubhanshu Shukla is one of India’s first trained astronauts and Captain Prashant Balakrishnan Nair is his backup.
Uses will detect the effect of microgravity and radiation on microalgy
Jitendra Singh said that two experiments will be done in space. The first experiment will find out what effect micro gravity in space and solar radiation affects microalgy. Microelgy is a source of nutrition -rich food source, which makes oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide. These algi can be extremely important for the life system that maintains itself in space.
The second experiment will be done on micrulina and micro -vegetation called Spirulina and Sinococcus, called “Space Superfood”. It will be seen whether they can be produced by using nitrogen sources such as urea coming out of the human body.
These experiments will be done with special biotech kits made in India, which have been developed by DBT. These kits are designed according to microgravity i.e. space status and scientifically tested. These are proof of India’s self -reliance and increasing skills in space technology.
Shubhanshu Shukla: Clear NDA and become IAF pilot
Shubhanshu Shukla is originally from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. His early studies were completed from City Montessori School in Aliganj, Lucknow. After 12th, he cleared the entrance exam of the National Defense Academy (NDA) and from here he earned a graduation degree.
The NDA is a major institution training for officer cadets for the Armed Forces (Army Army, Navy and Air Force) in India. Along with training, it also gives academic degree, which is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
Now know about the mission …
All four Astronauts will fly in the dragon capsules
These Astronauts will fly in Ellon Musk’s Dragon Capsule in SpaceX. The mission will be launched from Falcon-9 rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The launch date will be declared according to the final approval and preparations for the mission.
Mission purpose
The main objective of AX-4 is to perform scientific research, technology performance in space. This mission is part of the plan of Axiom Space towards encouraging private space travel and setting up a commercial space station in future.
- Scientific experiment: Different experiments in microgravity.
- Technology testing: Testing and development of new techniques in space.
- International cooperation: Providing a platform to astronauts from different countries.
- Educational Activities: To inspire people from space to Earth and spread awareness.
Private Space Mission is Austom 4
The Axiom Mission 4 is a private space flight mission. The mission is happening in the US private space company Axiom Space and NASA’s collabobation.
This is the fourth mission of the Axiom Space. The 17-day Mission Achom was launched on 1 April 2022. The second mission of Axiom was launched on 2 May 2023.
In this mission, four astronauts spent eight days in space. The third mission was launched on 3 January 2024, in which the crew spent 18 days at the space station.
What is International Space Station? The International Space Station is a large spacecraft moving around the Earth. In this, astronauts live and experiment in micro gravity. It travels at a speed of 28,000 kmph. It completes the circumambulation of the Earth every 90 minutes. 5 space agencies have made it together. The first piece of the station was launched in November 1998.
