A case of attempting illegal conversion has come to light in Mau district of Uttar Pradesh. The police have arrested two accused and a case has been registered against an unknown person.
According to the police, Akash Kumar, a resident of the district, lodged a complaint on Sunday. He also told that about two months ago, Shyam Kumar Rajbhar and Ravi Shankar pressurized them to change religion by luring them money. On Akash’s refusal, both the accused called him to a prayer meeting held near Salhabad.
Trying to convert
Akash alleges that when he reached the meeting, 60 to 70 people were present there and they were being explained for conversion. On receiving the information of the case, the police team reached the spot on Monday and conducted a raid. During this, Shyam and Ravi were arrested, while some unknown people managed to escape from the spot.
On this matter, the station in -charge Anil Kumar Singh said that the police have recovered religious books and other symbols related to Christianity from the spot. The police have registered a case against the accused and started investigation.

Mau’s Superintendent of Police Elamaran Ji has clarified that no attempt for illegal conversion will be tolerated. He also said that strict legal action will be taken against those who are found involved in such cases.
