With the help of Ayush Badoni’s unbeaten double century, the North Zone did not give the East Zone a chance to return on Sunday, the fourth and last day of the Dalip Trophy quarter -finals and confirmed its place in the semi -finals on the basis of an edge in the first innings. The North Zone team, which took a lead of 183 runs in the first innings, started the day by 388 runs for two wickets in the second innings. The team declared the innings for 658 runs for four wickets, then it had increased by 833 runs and both the captains agreed to end the draw. On September 4, South Zone and North Zone will face the semi -finals.

Ayush Badoni (Ayush Badoni) remained unbeaten on 204 off 223 balls while Kanhaiya Wadhawan remained unbeaten after scoring 23 runs. Taking full advantage of the North Zone’s decision to continue batting, Badoni completed the second double century of the first class career. He shared a 150 -run partnership for the third wicket with Badoni before being dismissed. Even after this wicket, the bowlers of the former region did not get relief. Nishant Sindhu (68 off 91 balls at the crease) shared a 157 -run partnership with Badoni to bring the team’s score to 600.

‘We could go for the result but…’
The team declared the innings after the completion of the double century of Badoni. Badoni hit 13 fours and three sixes while Sindhu hit two fours and five sixes. In the first innings, North -region bowler Aaqib Nabi, who took five wickets including a hat -trick, was adjudged Man of the Match. After the match draw, the captain of the north region Ankit said, ‘If we wanted, we could have gone for the result. We did not try due to the lead in the first innings. We also wanted to keep Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana (before the Asia Cup) as much as possible.
