Azhar Mahmood has been an assistant to the team’s head coach Jason Gillespie. He was appointed as Assistant Coach for two years in April last year by PCB.

Former all -rounder Azhar Mahmood has been appointed as TED coach by the Test team by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday. He was currently an assistant coach of the team.

Mahmood will replace former fast bowler Aqib Javed, who was playing the responsibility after leaving the post of Jason Gillespie. Gilespie resigned from his post in December last year. His term was to end in 2026. The Glippy team was angry with the PCB over the selection and the rights to prepare the pitch.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has said in its released statement that an experienced cricketer Azhar Mahmood has taken the role with a great experience. He has worked as Assistant Head Coaches and has long been an important part of the team’s strategic core group. He has a deep understanding of the game and an international level of experience. He has succeeded in the English County Circuit. These things make them very suitable for this role.

Team head coach by 2026 PCB made Azhar Mahmdu an assistant coach for two years in April last year. He will be the head coach of the team by the end of his term (2026 April).

South Africa will visit Pakistan in October-November. The African team will play a series of three ODIs and the same T20 matches in addition to the 2 Test series.

Whereas in the 2015 season, he was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Mahmood played a total of 23 matches in the IPL, in which he scored 388 runs in addition to taking 29 wickets.
