Shubman Gill has gained the crown of number one ODI batsman by leaving Pakistan behind Babar Azam.
New Delhi. Prior to the start of the ICC Champions Trophy, Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam has suffered a shock. His reign in the ICC ODI rankings for a long time is now over. In the latest ODI batting rankings released on Wednesday, Indian team vice -captain Shubman Gill captured the number one chair. Gill, who secured the ranking of number one in ODIs, is just the fourth Indian in India.
Shubman Gill has become a new World No -1 ODI batsman on Wednesday (February 19), leaving behind Pakistani star batsman and former captain Babar Azam. Indian openers are running in great form these days. He scored fierce runs in the ODI series against England, which has benefited him in the ICC rankings. The 25 -year -old batter of Punjab has 796 rating points, which is 23 more than Babur (773). This is the second time Gill has reached the number 1 position in the ODI rankings.

In the recently ended three -match ODI series against England, Gill performed brilliantly for Rohit Sharma -led team. Gill scored 87 runs from 96 balls in the first match played in Nagpur. In the second match played in Cuttack, he scored 60 runs off 52 balls. Gill scored a bang in the last match of the series at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. During this, he faced 102 balls and hit 14 fours and three sixes.
