New Delhi. England star spinner Shoaib Bashir suffered a finger injury in India’s first innings during the third Test at Lord’s on Saturday (July 12). The 21 -year -old spinner had hurt his left -handed little finger while bowling Ravindra Jadeja in the second session of the third day. It is reported that he will not be able to bat in the second innings against India.

After the injury, Bashir left the ground and did not bowl further in the first innings. The England team hoped that Bashir would bowl in the evening session, but he did not come on the field. According to Cricinfo’s report, he bowled on the practice pitch before the fourth day game. In which his fourth and fifth fingers were tied, but it is not clear whether he will fit for batting or not.

England’s statement said the fourth day of the morning, “After a small finger injury of the left hand, Shoaib Bashir continues to monitor and is expected to bowl in the fourth innings of this Test. The decision about his batting in the third innings will be taken on time. His participation in the fourth Test in Emirates Old Trafford will be assessed at the end of the match.”

Bashir, who made a Test debut for England against India in Visakhapatnam last year, has taken a total of nine wickets in this series so far. In the first innings of the Lord’s Test, he dismissed KL Rahul, who scored 100 runs. If Bashir is not considered fit to play in Manchester, England may consider playing Liam Dawson, Jack Leach and Rehan Ahmed.
