The ‘All We Imagine Age Light’, directed by Payal Kapadia, could not get the BAFTA Award for the best foreign language film. The movie, appreciated by critics, lagged behind the French-Spanish film ‘Emilia Perez’ in this category. Emilia Perez won the Best Foreign Language Award at the BAFTA Awards ceremony held on Sunday at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Carla Sophia Gaccon, the lead actress of ‘Emilia Perease’, was surrounded by controversies over some of her old tweets, who were seen as Islamophobic and Rasician. The second lead of the film Joe Saladana won the BAFTA Award in the Supporting Actress category. The French-Spanish film ‘Emilia Perez’, directed by Jacques Audiyard, is based on four women from Mexico, who seeks her own happiness.

The story of the film is something like that Drugs Cartel’s head Emilia (Carla Sophia Gaccon) hires a famous lawyer Rita (who Saladana) on a rough money, who can create a false story of her death in court. Actually, Emilia wants to declare herself dead so that she can live the rest of her life free without any fear.

At the same time, ‘All V Imagine as Light’ revolves around two Malayali nurses living in Mumbai and their friendship. This Malayalam-Hindi movie won the Grand Prix in Cannes in May last year and became the first film in India to achieve the feat. Earlier this year, ‘Emilia Perez’ has bestowed ‘All We Imagine Age Light’, ‘The Girl with the Needle’, ‘I am Still Hear’, ‘The Seed of the Sacred Fig’ and ‘Vermiglio’ The Motion Picture was also won the Golden Globe Award at the Non-Engish Language category.

Other films in the category of Best Foreign Language Film for the BAFTA Award were other films: ‘I am Still Here’ (Portuguese), ‘Nicap’ (Irish/English), and ‘The Seed of the Sacred Fig’ (Persian). ‘Nicap’ director Rich Pepiat won the BAFTA Award in the category of Best Debut Director. Irish filmmaker Papiat has written the story of this film. ‘Nicap’ tells the story of three hip-hop artists living in Belfast.
