When is Bakrid 2025?

It has been decided that on May 29, the last month of the Islamic calendar is the first date of ‘Jill Hija’. Jill-Hija will start from May 29 in India and the festival of Bakrid will be celebrated on the 10th day i.e. Saturday, June 7.
Why is the festival of Bakrid celebrated,
The beginning of this festival is related to a historical and spiritual event. According to Islamic belief, Allah wanted to test the faith of Hazrat Ibrahim and ordered him to sacrifice his cutest thing. His son Hazrat Ismail was the most loved for Hazrat Ibrahim. Assuming the command of Allah, he decided to sacrifice his son. But when he drove a knife on his son’s neck, Allah performed a miracle. An animal sacrificed in place of Hazrat Ismail. Bakrid is sacrificed in memory of this incident.

Bakrid begins with Eid special prayers, which are performed in mosques and Idgahs in the morning. After this, people hug, congratulate and then perform the ritual of sacrifice.
