Bangladesh, India’s action on intruders … refused to give entry, 13 Bangladeshi trapped on zero line – 13 Stranded at Zero Line as India Bangladesh Dig Heels on Illegal Imigrants Ntc

Bangladesh leaders and security agencies have raised strong objections to the action of sending illegal Bangladeshi citizens back by India. Bangladesh has described it as a threat to attacking its sovereignty and national security. In fact, on Tuesday, India sent back 67 Bangladeshi citizens, while 13 people were stranded on the zero line of the Indo-Bangladesh border on Wednesday morning.

On May 26, a senior officer of the Bangladesh Army, while giving jackal, said that it is not acceptable by India to push illegal citizens and if the need arises, the army is also ready for action.

Number of illegal intruders worrying

In 2016, the then Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju informed in the Rajya Sabha that about 2 crore Bangladeshi are living illegally in India. As of April 30 this year, BSF has entrusted Bangladesh Border Security Force (BGB) to about 100 illegal Bangladeshi citizens. However, according to Bangladeshi media, more than 800 people have been forcibly sent across the border since May 7, including Indian citizens and Rohingya refugees.

Tension in Lalmanirhat, local people protested

On Wednesday morning, BGB and local villagers thwarted the BSF’s attempt to push 57 people from six separate border points in Lalmonirhat district. The border of COOCH Behar, West Bengal is adjacent to Lalmanirhat.

According to Bangladesh newspaper The Daily Star, 13 people, including women and newborns, are stuck on the zero line. Neither they are getting admission in Bangladesh nor India is taking back them.

Flag meeting failed between BSF and BGB

In Lalmanirhat, BGB Battalion Commander Abdus Salaam told The Daily Star that BSF had demanded a flag meeting, but no positive response was received. He said that we are standing with BGB and will not forcibly allow anyone to enter the country.

BGB has also opposed India’s efforts to fencing the border. In January this year, there was a dispute again between BSF and BGB over fencing. Out of the 4,096.7 km long border of India-Bangladesh, 3,232 km has been fencing so far.

Stress increased from Bangladesh’s new political situation

Let us know that after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country in Bangladesh in August 2024, the anti-India forces have gained politically strength. It is being spread there that India supported Hasina to keep Hasina in power. Now the anti-India rhetoric has intensified in the new government.

Bangladesh’s National City Party leader Sarwar Tushar said in a conversation with New Age, “It is a direct security threat to India to forcibly send people to Bangladesh. It is a violation of inflammatory action and international law.”

He demanded India to stop such activities immediately and respect Bangladesh’s sovereignty. Earlier on May 9, Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry raised a formal objection to India about the issue and said that the procedures fixed for the return of illegal migrants should be followed.
