Insurance cover will increase on the amount deposited in the bank!
According to the PTI report, the central government can decide to increase the insurance cover on the amount deposited in the bank. Till now this limit is five lakh rupees and the government is seriously considering to increase it. This has been said by quoting the top official of the Finance Ministry. Financial Service Secretary M Nagaraju says that as soon as this proposal gets the approval of the government, its notification will be issued.

What is the limit now?
Talking about the moment, if your bank sinks, even if you have 15 or 20 lakh rupees deposited in your account, but only 5 lakh rupees are available. This deposit is an insurance cover under the Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation Act (DICGC) and the government is now considering giving relief to the bank account holders by increasing this cover. However, information about how much can be increased in it has not been revealed.
