New DelhiThe Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday (January 16) has issued a new policy to promote ‘discipline and unity’ in the national cricket team. Which includes many things like mandatory playing in domestic cricket, ban on presence of family and personal staff on tour and ban on personal advertisements during the series.

Players not following this policy will be fined, including deducting their fees from central contracts and being banned from participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL). These instructions have been announced after the poor performance of the team in the tour of Australia. Earlier, India also had to face a clean sweep against New Zealand.

The board has approved only a two-week period for families to stay with players during foreign tours. Apart from this, restrictions have been imposed on photo shoots related to personal staff and business. It is said in the policy of the board, any player who does not follow it. Any disciplinary action deemed appropriate by BCCI may be taken against him.

The policy further read, “Further, BCCI reserves the right to take disciplinary action against any player which may include barring the player concerned from participating in all tournaments conducted by BCCI including IPL and forfeiture of retainer money or matches under BCCI’s player contract.” “May include deduction from fees.” This document also states that from now on players will not be allowed to travel separately during the tour and no one will be allowed to leave early in case the tour or match ends early.
