Bumrah said, ‘I talked to the BCCI about the workload of five tired matches before Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from Test cricket during the IPL. I talked to doctors and physio. He advised to manage the workload, so I told the BCCI about not becoming a captain.

Bumrah has been struggling with injury for a long time. The BCCI has said that he will not be able to play all the matches of the 5 -match series against England. Bumrah said, ‘Yes! It is true that the BCCI wanted to see me in the role of captaincy but I had to refuse. It is not good for the team. Some are captained in three matches, some in two matches. I always give the first priority to the team.

Bumrah said that I want to play at least three matches against England. The number is not yet decided but I am ready for the first match. Bumrah suffered a back injury in Sydney this year during the Border-Gavaskar Test series. Later it was described as stress -related injury. Because of this, Bumrah was not able to play the Champions Trophy and he was not seen in the opening matches of the IPL 2025 season. Later Bumrah played IPF matches and took 17 wickets.

Bumrah said, ‘I played IPL. Always tried to perform better by paying attention to your body. The weather of England is good. There is heat in India. So here we are experiencing completely different weather.
