BCCI New President: Whether BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is going to get a new chairman, this question is very much in discussion at this time. Former Team India all -rounder Roger Binny turned 70 last month, but after passing the National Sports Bill in Parliament on Tuesday, he will remain the Board President till the annual general meeting (AGM) of BCCI to be held at least September.

If the members of the state association of BCCI want, then Binny can hold this position till the age of 75 years. Now this age limit has been set for the officials of National Sports Federations. It will be applicable in the international organization (eg ICC) about age.

A board source told PTI- Binny will remain till the September meeting. Whether or not they will get a new term, it will depend on the decisions of members and influential people associated with BCCI.

BCCI will also come under the National Sports Bill, but the law of RTI (Right to Information) will not apply to it, because this board does not take any financial help from the government.

BCCI’s legal team is currently reading the rules of the bill carefully. The source said- the bill has just passed, we have time to understand and discuss it. Then the opinion will be taken from all the stakeholders, which will also include senior players and coaching staff. Especially because cricket will be played in the 2028 Olympics. Roger Binny became the BCCI president in October 2022, replacing former captain Sourav Ganguly.
