BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma Farewell Match: BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla has updated on the news of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retirement from ODIs.
In an interview for the UPT20 league, Shukla was asked whether these two veterans of Indian cricket would get a farewell match like Sachin Tendulkar, as in 2013 at Wankhede Stadium. In response, he reminded that the pair is still playing ODI and the board will not ask them to retire while the decision about the farewell match will be taken at the right time.

When the host requested him to arrange a farewell match on behalf of the fans, Shukla said, “When the time comes, we will consider it. You are already arranging his farewell! Virat Kohli is very fit, and Rohit Sharma plays very well. Why are you worrying about his farewell?”
Kohli and Rohit took retirement from T20I cricket after winning the 2024 World Cup. He also said goodbye to Test career within a few days in May this year. India has not played any ODI cricket since IPL 2025, and the next series is scheduled in Australia in October. There is a discussion in the media that he can be asked to play in domestic competition, Vijay Hazare Trophy for expectations of playing in 2027 World Cup, but it remains to be seen whether it is true.
