Beating retreat ceremony: The 76th Republic Day celebrations of the country ended on Wednesday (January 29, 2025) at Vijay Chowk in New Delhi (January 29, 2025). ‘Beating Retreat’ began in the early 1950s, when the Indian Army Major Roberts developed a unique ceremony of performance by the collective band indigenously. It is a symbol of centuries -old military tradition. This ceremony is reminiscent of the past, in which after the sun set, soldiers used to stop the fight, put their weapons and return to their camps after hearing the sound of retreat.
