Pvr inox fin case: People turn to theaters to watch the film on a big screen, but now during this time, long-aids also have to be seen. The duration of the film is less but due to these advertisements, the time increases. This problem was taken seriously by a person living in Bengaluru and reached the Consumer Court.
In the case, a district consumer court in Bangalore has found the theater PVR INOX guilty of delaying film screening by broadcasting excessive advertisements and termed it as ‘unfair’ trade behavior. The court punished multiplex punishment and also ordered to give one lakh rupees as compensation and to ensure that the audience should be clearly told the real time of the film’s start.
Know what is the whole matter?
A person from Bangalore, along with two of his family members, filed the case after watching the show of 4.05 pm in December 2023 with his two family members. Due to the late advertisement, the feature film started at 4.30 pm, causing his program to go wrong and wasted time. The complainant was given Rs 20,000 separately for inconvenience and mental trouble and Rs 8,000 for covering the cost of the case.
‘Time precious in the world of high speed’
The court emphasized that today’s fast-speed is very valuable in the world and no business has the right to take unfair advantage of consumers’ time and money. The court said, “Spending 25 to 30 minutes to see the advertisement is an important waste of time, especially for people whose routine is very busy. People want entertainment to be stress -free, but this does not mean that they have no other responsibilities. ”

What did PVR Einox say?
PVR INAX defended the need for screening of public service announcements (PSA) before films citing government rules. However, the court said that these guidelines limit such screening to a maximum of 10 minutes. The complainant recorded the advertisements as evidence, making PVR INAX arguing that it violated the anti -piracy laws. The court dismissed the claim and clarified that only the advertisements were recorded, not the film and the audience to highlight the issue.
