The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided several places in Bangalore city on Wednesday. This raid is part of the money laundering investigation related to the alleged engineering seat blocking scam in some private colleges.
Official sources in the ED told PTI that a total of 18 complexes were searched including BMS College of Engineering, Akash Institute of Engineering and Technology and New Horizon College of Engineering, BMS trustees and their main colleagues, including some education advisors and agents.
Colleges or their promoters could not be contacted to comment on these allegations and ED’s action against them. He informed that under the Money Prevention Act (PMLA), the Federal Investigation Agency is being investigated by the Bengaluru Regional Unit.
Sources said some documents and computer hardware have been recovered during the search. Those who have been confiscated.
