The Karnataka government informed the High Court that an investigation into a stampede at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, in which 11 people were killed and 56 were injured, handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). A special investigation team (SIT) will be formed under CID to ensure a strong investigation of the incident. In its status report submitted to the Karnataka High Court, the state government said that an FIR has been registered under Section 105, 125 (1) (2) (2), 132, 121/1, 190 of the Indian Justice (BNS) under Crime No. 123/2025 at Kabban Park Police Station. The FIR has now been handed over to the CID and instructions have been given to create an SIT for further investigation.
The government has also announced a magistrate inquiry into the stampede. The investigation will be conducted by the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Bangalore City District within 15 days, so that the causes of the stampede can be investigated, including any kind of lapse, and the accountability can be fixed. The incident occurred during the Victory Parade organized to honor the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team on the night of 3 June and the morning of June 4, 2025 after winning the title.

According to the report given in the High Court of the state government, more than 2.5 lakh people had gathered near the stadium. Despite the widespread arrangement of 1,380 personnel of Bengaluru City Police and 13 KSRP platoon (325 personnel), the crowd caused a stampede at several gates-resulting in 11 people killed and 56 injured. Castes were reported on Gate No. 1, 6, 7 and Gate No. 17-21 of M Chinnaswamy. The injured were given immediate medical help, out of which 50 were left after treatment in OPD and 6 people are still undergoing treatment.
In addition to police personnel, the state had deployed three fire tenders, two ambulances, two de-sweat units, a water tanker, one command and control vehicle and four units of KSRP. The government said in the status report filed in the High Court that the post -mortem of all 11 victims has been completed and the bodies have been handed over to their families. The government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for each deceased and is bearing all medical expenses for the injured.

The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has also promised an additional compensation of Rs 5 lakh for each deceased. Meanwhile, a case has been registered against RCB, Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), DNA network and others in connection with the stampede. The FIR lodged by the Kabban Park Police with self -cognizance was confirmed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central Shekhar H. Teknavar. These institutions have been accused in the case of alleged criminal negligence related to the incident.
