Ed action in money laundering case: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a prosecution complaint against 5 people and a firm in a large case laundering case. The complaint was filed on Wednesday (February 19, 2025) at the Honorable Special Court (PMLA) in Ernakulam, which also took cognizance of it on the same day.

What is the matter?
The Enforcement Directorate has registered a case against all these accused under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. Investigation revealed that the accused were making a large amount of black money white in illegal methods. All these people, including Pavath Jewelers, are accused of misusing the banking system and illegally made money here and there and indulged in money laundering.
How was the scam revealed?
The investigation of the case was earlier started by the CBI (CBI), in which heavy financial irregularities were detected. The case was later assigned to the ED, who investigated the money laundering angle and now the case has reached the court.
What will happen in court now?
Since the Hon’ble Special Court (PMLA) has taken cognizance of the matter on February 19, now a notice can be issued to the accused soon and the possibility of arrest is also being expressed.
Strict action against money laundering
The ED has been taking strict action on matters of money laundering and illegal financial transactions in recent years. In 2023-24, the ED registered more than 1000 cases across the country and seized the assets of many big businessmen and leaders.
Appeal to the public, inform about illegal transactions
The ED has appealed to the common people to inform them if they see the case of suspected financial transactions or money laundering. The government is adopting a policy of zero tolerance against corruption and black money, and strict action will continue on the culprits.
