The Air India flight crashed soon after the take-off in Ahmedabad on 12 June. Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), who is investigating this incident, has got a big success. The government said on Thursday that the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and flight data recorder (FDR) have been evacuated from the aircraft’s black box, their data has been downloaded and now their analysis has been started. Both these recorders play the most important role in the investigation of aircraft accidents.
What did you get from the black box?
The black box was brought to Delhi from Ahmedabad on 24 June, where it was opened in the laboratory of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau. After this, the crash protection module (CPM) was safely evacuated. The data was downloaded by successfully accessing its memory.
Please tell that 275 people died in this accident. Out of 242 people aboard the aircraft, 241 people died. In the plane crash, only one person Vishwas Kumar Ramesh survived.
What is CVR and FDR?
There is a CVR (cockpit voice recorder), it records the sounds of pilots and the sounds of cockpit, which can be ascertained what was the situation just before the accident.
What is FDR?
FDR (flight data recorder) is, it records aircraft speed, height, engine status, direction and other technical information.
What is the purpose of investigation?
– Based on the information received from CVR and FDR, efforts are being made to understand the entire incident before the accident.
– Analysis will find out that technical fault, pilot’s mistake or any external cause was not behind the accident.
– Its purpose is to strengthen air security and prevent such incidents in future.
