The Samajwadi Party will support the Rashtriya Janata Dal in the assembly elections to be held in Bihar later this year. SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav has not only taken this decision, but has also given a message to his party leaders.
,
In such a situation, the rift in SP’s relationship with the Congress is believed to increase. Because, the Congress is already preparing to contest elections in Bihar to strengthen itself.
In the first Delhi and now Bihar, the SP has left the Congress and entered into an agreement with the second party. After this, there is a cloud of uncertainty between the SP and the Congress on the ongoing alliance in Uttar Pradesh. If the controversy increased, the path of Congress and SP may vary in 2027 assembly elections.
Actually, Akhilesh Yadav believes that the party will support the BJP, the SP will support him. On the same lines, SP supported Arvind Kejriwal’s party (AAP) in Delhi. While SP and Congress fought the Lok Sabha elections together in UP, defeated BJP. SP’s support base in Bihar is limited. There is also no organizational strength. By supporting Tejashwi, the SP wants to stop the sharing of opposition votes, so that the BJP can be challenged.
First know how SP’s support base is in Bihar
Therefore distance between Congress and SP may increase The Congress’ attitude towards Bihar elections is not clear. In such a situation, this decision of Akhilesh Yadav can pass the Congress exasperating. There are assembly elections in UP after 2 years. There has already been tension between SP and Congress about seat-sharing.
Congress leaders have said many times that the formula of 17-63 will not work in the assembly elections. Here he will need equal stake. SP UP will never want more than 60-70 seats to the Congress. In such a situation, the question also arises that what is Akhilesh Yadav’s strategy behind this decision?
Political analyst and senior journalist Rajendra Kumar says- Akhilesh’s vision is clear. He himself does not want to become votes Katua. His intention is to unite the votes against the BJP.
Anyway, the main strength of SP is in Uttar Pradesh, so instead of spending limited resources in Bihar, he wants to increase indirect effect by supporting RJD there. Akhilesh also wants to show the Congress that the SP can decide its role in the opposition alliance even without it.
The Congress was already uncomfortable with the recent attitude of SP in Uttar Pradesh. This step in Bihar may be a message for him that Akhilesh is giving priority to regional parties. This may make the Congress feel that the situation of their national party is getting weaker.
Akhilesh Yadav is putting psychological pressure on the Congress by supporting Arvind Kejriwal in the first Delhi elections and now talking about RJD’s support. It is just a game to give the message that there is no partition in Muslim-Yadav (My) votes from UP to Bihar.
Political experts believe that overall Akhilesh’s support to the RJD in Bihar is more visible to emphasize opposition unity by accepting the limited strength of SP. This can increase tension with Congress. Especially, when the coordination between the two has been weak in recent elections.
The history of SP has been ineffective in Bihar, so this support symbolically matters more. The attitude of RJD and Congress will further clear the position of SP.
Senior journalist Siddharth Kalahans says- Akhilesh Yadav’s message is clear. They do not want to be cut by themselves to strengthen the Indie alliance. As far as the relationship with Congress is concerned, it will remain.
A Congress section definitely wants the party to contest elections on its own. Rahul Gandhi himself has also indicated about such people. In such a situation, Rahul Gandhi would never want to make the BJP’s path easier by fighting separately in Bihar.
If RJD-Congress contests elections, what will be the effect on SP? If this happens, it can be relaxed for Indy alliance. SP’s support to RJD will strengthen the opposition alliance. At the same time, if the Congress separates from RJD and contests elections, then it will be considered to increase the dispute between Congress and SP. Meaning, the SP-Congress relationship can get worse by the Congress fighting separate.
Now know what SP and Congress leaders say? Samajwadi Party spokesperson Amik Jamaai says- SP is competing with BJP. Wherever the party that defeats the BJP will be strong, the SP will support it. Tejashwi’s RJD is the largest party in Bihar. In Bihar, elections will be contested under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav. Tejashwi should take the Congress along.
At the same time, the Congress says that so far no statement has been revealed against the top leaders of both parties against the alliance.
