Bimstec Summit 2025 will PM modi-Mohammad Yunus Meet at Bimstec Summit Read the Big Update on Bilateral Talks

Bimstec Summit 2025: Pran Minister Modi has reached to participate in the BIMSTEC summit to be held in Bangkok. During this time, the first bilateral dialogue between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the main addition of the interim government of Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus, may be the first bilateral talks. Khalilur Rahman, the high representative of the Chief Advisor on Rohingya and priority issues, said on Wednesday that the leaders of BIMSTEC member countries, will discuss future works with Younus.

Addressing a press conference, Rahman said, “We have requested India to organize this talk (between the leaders of the two countries) … There is enough possibility of this meeting.”

The BIMSTEC summit is being held in Bangkok, Thailand from 2-4 April. On April 4, BIMSTEC will be officially headed to Bangladesh.

Recently, Prime Minister Modi wrote a letter to Younus to highlight the importance of mutual sensitivity and described Bangladesh liberation struggle as ‘shared history’. He wrote this letter to commemorate Bangladesh’s National Day and reiterated India’s commitment to advance the partnership between the two countries.

Indian Foreign Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar held several meetings with his counterparts from neighboring countries including Bangladesh during the Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat on Sunday (March 30).

The Foreign Minister posted on X after his meeting with Bangladesh’s Interim Government’s Foreign Affairs advisor Mohammad Tauheed Hussain, “The conversation was focused on our bilateral relations as well as BIMSTEC.”

The relations between India and Bangladesh have become tense after the fall of Sheikh Hasina -led Awami League government. Hasina was forced to flee India.

The interim government formed after the change of power is led by Nobel Prize winner and economist Muhammad Yunus. The current government in Dhaka is facing heavy criticism for the attacks on the minority community. India has repeatedly shared its concerns with Bangladesh on this issue.
