Air India aircraft crashed in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on Thursday. Air India aircraft took off from Ahmedabad Airport to London. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was also riding in this aircraft, who was a victim of the accident, who died. Rupani was going to London to meet his wife and daughter. He was in charge of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Punjab and Union Territory of Chandigarh.
Vijay Rupani, who was counted among the BJP’s strong leaders, was born on 2 August 1956 in Rangoon, the capital of Burma (now Myanmar). Vijay Rupani’s father Ramanikalal Rupani used to live in Rangoon in connection with business. When the situation worsened in Burma, he returned to Rajkot in Gujarat with his family. Vijay Rupani’s early education was done in Rajkot. Vijay Rupani’s mind, who has a relationship with the family associated with business, was towards politics and social service.

Vijay Rupani joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in his student life itself. BA, LLB Vijay Rupani also went to jail during the emergency. Vijay Rupani, who was the national general secretary of BJP, was counted among the leaders close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. In the Gujarat elections of 2007 and 2012, the election management of Vijay Rupani is given credit for BJP’s good performance in Saurashtra-Kachch region.

Vijay Rupani, who came from Jain society, became the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2016 in place of Anandiben Patel. After the BJP’s victory in 2017, Vijay Rupani took the oath of CM of Gujarat for the second time. In September 2021, BJP changed CM in Gujarat and Vijay Rupani resigned as Chief Minister. After Narendra Modi, only other leader Vijay Rupani, who lived on the chair of the Chief Minister of Gujarat, got involved in the organization after leaving the chair. Even in the 2022 assembly elections, he had separated himself from the ticket race for Rajkot West Assembly seat.
