The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has once again performed brilliantly in the municipal elections held in Gujarat. Out of 68 municipalities, BJP won an absolute majority at 60, while the Congress managed to win only 1 municipality. At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is disappointed. Apart from these, the Samajwadi Party captured 2 municipalities, while there was a tie situation in 3 municipalities. If the independents have won in a municipality, then no party has got a majority in 1 municipality.
Last time, BJP won 51 out of these 68 municipalities. This time the number of victory has reached from 51 to 60. Overall, BJP won a total of 1403 seats in this local body elections, Congress has won 260 seats, Samajwadi Party 34, Aam Aadmi Party 28 and BSP 19 seats. Apart from these, independents have won 151 seats.
BJP’s majority for third time in Junagadh
The BJP has described this victory as the result of Gujarat’s development journey under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the party, the public has once again expressed confidence in the policies of the BJP and the development works of the government. After this historic victory, a grand celebration was celebrated at the Gujarat BJP headquarters Kamalam, in which Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Water Power and BJP State President C.R. Patil also joined.
The BJP won 48 out of 60 seats, winning the Junagadh Municipal Corporation for the third consecutive time. On this, BJP President CR Patil said that the development of Gujarat under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going on continuously and the public has once again supported it.
Shock to opposition
The results for the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party were disappointing in this civic elections. The Congress managed to win only one municipality, while only 27 candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party won. However, AAP described his performance as satisfactory and said that he had fielded 500 candidates, out of which 35 candidates won, which is an important achievement for his party.
AAP accused the BJP that the ruling party adopted all kinds of tactics to win the election. The party alleged that the BJP adopted the policy of “evening-in-theme-dand-bhed”, yet their candidates fought elections with full hard work and remained among the public.
At the same time, Congress President Shakti Singh Gohil also accused the BJP of winning the election with the help of power and money power. He said that the Congress has only 12 MLAs this time, while in the last elections this number was 77. In such a situation, this election result cannot be considered completely disappointing.
