BJP Slams Congress:The dispute between Congress and BJP regarding the funeral of Dr. Manmohan Singh is continuously increasing. Regarding the funeral of Dr. Manmohan Singh, Congress has made many allegations against BJP like disrespect and mismanagement in the funeral, to which BJP leader Amit Malviya has also responded. The BJP leader said that it is a matter of shame that Congress is politicizing the death of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
BJP leader Amit Malviya said that the allegations made by the Congress media manager are baseless. The BJP leader said that he hopes Congress will stop exploiting Dr. Manmohan Singh on his death and give him the respect he deserves. Overall, when Congress listed the shortcomings of BJP, BJP has also given a strong reply to it.
Amit Malviya responded to Congress’s allegations
1- Congress leader Pawan Kheda alleged in X-Post that no news agency was allowed except DD News, DD focused on Modi and Shah, barely covered Dr. Manmohan Singh’s family.
In response to this, Amit Malviya wrote that the Defense Ministry has no role in the coverage of the ceremonies. Earlier also only DD had done the coverage. The restriction on entry is from the security agencies. National events are also covered only by DD.
2- Pawan Kheda next alleged that only 3 chairs were kept in the front row for the family of Dr. Manmohan Singh. Congress leaders had to insist on seats for their daughters and other family members.
In response to this, the BJP leader said that seating arrangements at the funeral site are made by CPWD in consultation with Delhi Police. The number of seats in the front row was kept maximum as per the available space. Five (5) seats were set aside for family members in the first row. These were occupied by Manmohan Singh’s wife and his three daughters. The remaining 20 seats were for constitutional officers, who were to offer floral tributes. These included the President of India, King of Bhutan, Vice President, Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, Leader of Opposition and Service Chiefs. No other person was allotted a seat in the front row. 8 seats in the second row were reserved for family members. In the next two rows (rows 3 and 4) enclosures were set for family members.
3- Pawan Kheda wrote that the Prime Minister and the ministers did not stand up during the handing over of the national flag to the widow of the late Prime Minister and the gun salute.
Responding to this, Amit Malviya wrote that the state funeral was performed with full military honours. There were no deviations in the process.
4- Kheda next alleged that the family was given inadequate space around the pyre due to the presence of soldiers on one side.
Responding to this, the BJP leader wrote that the place for the last rites was informed by the Home Ministry. There were only formal staff around the pyre. The entire space was available for the family and the priests. There were no other officers in that area.
5- The Congress leader alleged that the general public was kept out, they were left to watch from outside the venue.
In response to this, the BJP leader said that public restrictions are imposed by security agencies for overall security. The entire venue was full.
6- Not only this, Pawan Kheda said that Amit Shah’s convoy obstructed the funeral procession, due to which the family vehicles were left outside. The gate was closed and the family members were found and brought back inside.
In response, Amit Malviya said that the funeral procession was managed by the traffic police. Details of the family’s cars were sought in advance and they were issued parking passes by the security unit. There was no disruption in the funeral procession.
7- The Congress alleged that the grandchildren performing the last rites of Dr. Manmohan Singh had to jostle for space to reach the pyre.
In response, the BJP leader said that only family members, the priest and the guards of the ceremony were present near the pyre.
8- Pawan Kheda further wrote that the diplomats were sitting somewhere else and were not visible. The surprising thing is that when the King of Bhutan was standing, the Prime Minister did not stand.
In response, BJP said that diplomats were also made to sit at designated places. As per protocol, the King of Bhutan and the Foreign Minister of Mauritius were seated in the front row.
9- The Congress alleges that the entire funeral area was cramped and poorly organized, leaving no room for many people in the procession.
In response, Malviya said that no restrictions were imposed on well-wishers, supporters and visitors from coming inside and paying homage. This included the residence, party office, funeral procession and funeral venue. The Defense Ministry was entrusted with the task of performing the last rites with full military honours. That is what was done.
Amit Malviya finally wrote, “We hope that Congress will stop exploiting Dr. Manmohan Singh on his death and give him the respect he deserves.
